Our History

Our founder, Albert Vaughn Williams, patented the technology for building mobile offices in 1955. With 80 years of experience, we’ve grown organically and by acquisition into a full-service provider with the industry’s largest space solutions portfolio.

1944

Williams Mobile Offices introduces an 8’ wide construction trailer that can be towed behind a car

1945

Scotsman Manufacturing Company produces recreational vehicles and specialty units for the movie business

1955

Williams Mobile Offices is incorporated

1965

First Double Wide Mobile Office

1967

First Modular Building (6-55 x 10)

1990

Merger of Scotsman Manufacturing and Williams Mobile Offices creating Williams Scotsman Inc.

1999

First Canadian branch opens

2004

Expansion into Mexico; addition of GE Capital’s California DSA Classroom offering

2005

Williams Scotsman IPO; WLSC ticker on NASDAQ

2007

Williams Scotsman enters Hawaii and Alaska markets

2007

Williams Scotsman combines with Algeco, creating Algeco Scotsman and operating globally in 25 countries

2010

reMod, a greener modular line, is introduced

2013

Launched the Essentials line of add-on products and services to make spaces ready to work

2014

Remote Accommodations established in Canada

2015

FLEX, an innovative panelized product, introduced along with turnkey Ready-to-Work furniture and amenities

2017

Williams Scotsman separates from Algeco Scotsman; goes public as WillScot Corporation, operating across North America and trading under WSC on NASDAQ

2018

Revenues double to over $1B annually; joined Russell 2000 index

2020

WillScot merges with Mobile Mini

2022

Revenues exceed $2B annually; Introduces offering of blast-resistant protective buildings

Introduces temperature-controlled storage and ClearSpan Structures offerings
